Looking for a new Youth Day Chair

Looking for an energetic AGMS member to take over the Youth Day Chair. This chair involves the Quest for Knowledge as well as Friday, Youth Day. I have enjoyed this for the past 10+ years but need to pass this on.  I thought it would be nice to be able to train someone this year instead of dumping this on show committee next year.

Jobs functions are to verify the Quest; pre-register students starting Sept 1st; create Quest maps and set out maps at show; set up Friday Youth Day table; distribute Quest flags; greet students and  teachers; take down Friday Youth Day table, and a few other little things.

Time commitment at the show on Friday, from open to about 2pm.  Thursday set up takes about an hour. Tear down on Friday afternoon, about 20 minutes.

Please contact Susan @ TexasAgate@gmail.com or visit with me at a meeting.

September 2017 President’s Note

Summer has passed and definitely left an imprint across the upper Texas coastline. Our hopes and prayers go out to our brother and sister rockhounds who may have been impacted by Harvey. If you can find a way to help through time, talent and/or money, I’m sure it will find worthy causes.

Fall also reminds us that Gem Capers is around the corner. In fact it will be held October 20, 21 and 22. Reserve as many days as you can to help AGMS host a grand show. Volunteer sign up sheets will be posted soon as well as available at the September General Meeting. We can’t host a successful show without you.

GEODES is our theme this year. AGMS will exhibit geodes in the long clear display. We need your geodes. Please bring some of your geodes for our display, Find me at the General Meeting. I’ll collect them, coordinate the display and return them to you. Thank you in advance and I’ll see you at the meeting.
